Texas City has lifted the shelter-in-place order issued for the nearby areas of the Marathon Refinery following a large fire.
The incident was reported Saturday at the facility located at 2401 5th Ave South.

The Texas City Fire Department is currently conducting air monitoring at the site.
Due to the ongoing situation, officials ordered a shelter-in-place for residents and businesses from Highway 146 to Bay Street and North of Marathon from 21st to Bay Street. The order has since been lifted.
The affected area was asked by Texas City Emergency Management to follow these safety precautions:
- Go indoors and stay inside.
- Close all doors and windows.
- Turn off air conditioning or heating systems.
- Stay tuned to official channels for updates.
The City of Texas City and the Texas City Office of Emergency Management (TCOEM) are actively monitoring the situation and working closely with the necessary agencies to ensure public safety.
