RICHMOND, Texas – Fort Bend County Judge KP George returned to court Friday morning to contest criminal charges in two separate cases.
This appearance focused on the misrepresentation of identity case for which George was indicted last September.
The misdemeanor case is linked to George’s former Chief of Staff, Taral Patel, who entered a guilty plea in April for his role in the social media hoax.

The hoax involved Patel creating fake identities on social media, using real images of individuals, and leveraging those accounts to attack both himself and his opponent to garner sympathy votes in his race for county commissioner.
George’s court appearance lasted only a few minutes, serving primarily as a check-in to assess the progress of the case. Prosecutors have described it as complex, with both sides still reviewing approximately four terabytes of information. Consequently, both parties requested additional time to examine the evidence before proceeding to the next legal step.

The judge agreed to reset the case for two weeks. However, both sides are scheduled to return to a different courtroom next week for a hearing focused on the money laundering case against George.
After the hearing, George’s attorneys, Terry Yates and Jared Woodfill, emphasized to 2 Investigates that they intend to fight the charges vigorously.
When asked about the possibility of a plea deal in either case, Woodfill responded, “No, unless they want to drop it.” George also stated under his breath, “Absolutely not.”
Yates and Woodfill maintained their belief that the case is politically motivated and should be dismissed.
The Fort Bend County District Attorney’s office stated they are “committed to the pursuit of justice and the ends it takes us.”
2 Investigates will be in court next week and will continue to follow the case until its conclusion.
