A series of “No Kings” visibility protests will take place across the Houston area and Southeast Texas this weekend, June 14.

The volunteer-organized events are part of a growing grassroots movement pushing back against what organizers call "authoritarian overreach."

Organizers describe these as peaceful “visibility events” where participants gather to show support for democratic institutions and protest against perceived authoritarian moves in state and national leadership.

In response to the planned protests, Congressman Wesley Hunt sent a letter to local leaders urging law enforcement to be prepared, expressing concerns about potential unrest. Governor Greg Abbott’s office also issued a statement saying the state is ready to deploy additional resources if needed and emphasized that while peaceful protests are protected, any acts of violence or property damage will not be tolerated.
