Where ‘No Kings’ protests will take place across Houston, Southeast Texas on Saturday, June 14

A series of “No Kings” visibility protests will take place across the Houston area and Southeast Texas today, June 14.

OUR FIRST REPORT: Downtown Houston No Kings immigration protest to counter Flag Day parade on Trump’s 79th birthday

The largest local demonstration is set for 10 a.m. outside Houston City Hall. Organizers say more than 4,000 people have RSVP’d for the downtown rally, which will include a march looping around the nearby streets.

The grassroots “No Kings” movement, made up of volunteer-led protests across the country, is intentionally counter-programming a military parade being held in Washington, D.C., for President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday.

Demonstrators say their goal is to stand up for civil liberties and push back against what they see as undemocratic policies.

While organizers have repeatedly called for peaceful protests, law enforcement agencies across the region have issued reminders about respecting First Amendment rights while warning against property damage and violence.

Governor Greg Abbott has activated more than 5,000 Texas National Guard soldiers, ready to respond if needed.

If you’re headed downtown today, be aware that streets near City Hall will be affected during the protest and march.
