HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Deputies have a suspect in custody after a man was shot at an apartment complex in North Harris County Thursday.
Deputies with Harris County Precinct 4 responded to a shooting in the 14300 block of Ella Boulevard. According to investigators, a man wearing a light blue hoodie opened fire at The Venti Apartments, striking a male victim.
The 27-year-old victim was found with a gunshot wound at the scene. Deputies say his injuries are not life-threatening, and he was transported to a hospital.
A perimeter was established around the complex as law enforcement, including a Constable K9 unit, searched for the suspect.
Cpt. Aaron Strain with Pct. 4 says the 23-year-old suspect was found inside an apartment unit in building 3 of the complex. He refused to cooperate with deputies and a K9 was used to bring him into custody.
Strain said the suspect had four open warrants. Two were for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges and two were for weapon-related charges. One of those shootings stems from an incident Wednesday night where shots were fired at the same apartment complex. No one was hurt in that shooting.
Strain said it is possible this shooting is connected to the same incident that led to the shooting Wednesday night.
Strain said preliminary information indicated shots were fired inside the leasing office, however, they discovered the victim was shot somewhere else on the property and had run into the leasing office.
The suspect has been taken to a hospital for minor injuries. He will have an additional aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge filed against him.
