Deputies responded before 10 p.m. They said Benjamin was on his bike when a loose dog approached him and caused him to lose control of his bike.

Benjamin then fell off his bike and onto the roadway, when the driver of a black Chrysler 300 hit him and drove off, according to HCSO.

Monique Brown, the sister of Benjamin, said she is seeking justice.

“He was a child. He could have been your child,” said Brown. “I wish I could have been right there when he took his last breath."

Brown said her brother was a student at Forest Brook Middle School and had dreams of one day becoming a professional football player.

“Loving, kind, a small person, but a big heart,” said Brown, when describing her brother.

Neighbors in the area of the crash said loose dogs are a big problem in the area.

But Brown said this was a street her brother has biked on hundreds of times.

“He’s never mentioned speeding cars. He never mentioned dogs chasing him when he goes to the park. He never mention anything like that,” said Brown.

KPRC 2 reached out to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to ask about surveillance video, but a public information officer said investigators will not be releasing any at this time.
