HOUSTON – With so many high school graduations across the Houston area, KPRC 2 wanted to highlight one special family.
The Tran siblings, two sets of twins in the Galleria area, graduated from high school over the weekend. Dubbed the “Galleria Quads,” Cameron, Kennedy, Madison, and Austin were born in 2006 but are headed to college in August.
The quadruplets were featured in the Houston Chronicle back in 2007 for their first birthday. They are one in a million, quite literally! The chance of having quadruplets is between 1 and 700,000 and 1 in a million!
Mom, Jordan Ha says, the quads were a complete surprise. At first, doctors thought she was only having twins. But then they heard another heartbeat, and then another!
“My doctor said I think we hear a fourth heartbeat, what do you mean another?” Ha recalled. ”As a mom, it was just an instinct you just do it, you don’t really realize that it’s hard or easy, you just do it, so when people ask me, I don’t really understand what the challenge is because you just do it.”
And now the family is enjoying all of their accomplishments as they get ready to head to college in the fall.
“I’m very proud of them that they were athletes in school but they are graduating with honors all four of them with honors,” she added.
The quads were very active in school sports, including basketball, volleyball,l and track. Mom Jordan remembers running from sporting event to sporting event to support all her kids.
Their sibling bond runs so deep, and the sibling rivalry is just as fun.
“Growing up, (Madison) was always better at basketball than me; it was kind of a good thing,” Austin said. “It threw me into a crazy identity crisis, and I’ve mastered everything now but basketball.”
“Obviously it’s amazing, We don’t know any other difference, we’re just like ‘Yeah it’s awesome,” said Madison Tran.
,
“To us, our lives just feel normal, but to everyone else, it’s fascinating,” added Cameron Tran.
“It makes me feel grateful because I’m like, ‘Wow, this is unreal,” said Kennedy Tran.
Kennedy will be going to Texas Christian University to study anesthesiology. Madison will head to Louisiana State University to study kinesiology. Cameron is going to study pharmacy at the University of Houston, where she’ll be joined by Austin to major in business.
Congratulations to the Tran siblings!
