The Houston SPCA says it rescued 82 animals in two disturbing, unrelated animal cruelty cases reported within a 24-hour period across the Greater Houston area.
In Pasadena, investigators and Pasadena Animal Control officers responded to a home in the Red Bluff Terrace neighborhood. Inside, they found 70 small, malnourished dogs and a bird living in filthy, unsanitary conditions.

The home was contaminated with feces, urine, and debris. All of the animals were removed and are now receiving medical care at the Houston SPCA.
Less than a day earlier in Tomball, the Houston SPCA and Harris County Constable Pct. 1 discovered a horrific scene at a home near Sorrel Meadows Drive.
Investigators found nine cats confined in urine-soaked wire kennels stacked three high, with no proper food, water, or sanitation. Six deceased cats were also found around the property, along with two dogs kept in filthy kennels.
All surviving animals were taken in for emergency treatment.
“These cases are a powerful reminder of how much we rely on the community to report animal neglect and abuse,” said Travis Crisman, vice president of shelter services at the Houston SPCA. “A phone call or online report can be the difference between suffering and safety for countless animals.”
