Rosales has been charged with capital murder in the death of Precinct 5 Corporal Charles Galloway, and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in his case.

What happened

During a traffic stop in southwest Houston, Rosales reportedly shot Corporal Galloway, who was a 12-year veteran with Harris County Precinct 5 and was promoted to Corporal in January 2022.

After shooting the corporal, Rosales fled to Mexico. Days after the shooting, he was captured in Ciudad Acuna, which is right across the border from Del Rio, Texas.

Rosales, who is believed to be from El Salvador, was then transported back to Houston and booked into the Harris County Jail, where he remains for the duration of his trial.

Rosales trial is expected to last up to three weeks.
