Preliminary information, per a law enforcement source, is that Joss and a neighbor were in an argument that escalated into a deadly shooting. An official motive, however, has not been disclosed by SAPD, but identified Joss’s accused killer as Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, 56.

The following statement was shared by SAPD:

“Our investigation has found no evidence whatsoever to indicate that Mr. Joss’s murder was related to his sexual orientation. We take such allegations very seriously and have thoroughly reviewed all available information. Should any new evidence come to light, we will charge the suspect accordingly.”

Ceja was detained and arrested at the scene and currently faces murder charges.

According to our sister station, KSAT, Joss lost his home and two dogs after it caught fire this past January. He spoke with KSAT, noting his father built the home for his mother in 1957.

“This is a house I grew up in,” Joss told KSAT. ”I’m more concerned about my dog that died, but you know what? The good Lord will protect us.”

Joss voiced John Redcorn from Season 2 of King of the Hill through Season 13 and recorded lines for the upcoming revival set to stream on Hulu in August.
