HOUSTON – A Houston resident’s surveillance cameras have documented months of concerning behavior from an unauthorized occupant at Park West Place apartments, including package theft and public disturbances.
This has prompted calls for action from property management and law enforcement.
The female resident, who requested anonymity due to safety concerns, said, “At first, I thought he was just a visitor. After a couple weeks, I decided to reach out to management.”
Security footage documents escalating concerns
The resident’s security system has recorded numerous concerning incidents over the past six months.
Footage shows the man apparently burning a Styrofoam box in the hallway, sleeping on stairs wrapped in a blanket, and engaging in a physical altercation with neighboring tenants. She also reported that the cameras caught him engaging in sexual activity on the stairs.
On May 19, cameras captured footage of the man allegedly stealing Amazon packages from the woman’s doorstep. Local police later recovered the empty boxes near a bus station, according to the resident.
Management response and ongoing issues
Property management confirmed to KPRC 2 that the individual is not listed on any lease but has been visiting a tenant in the building. Initially, management advised the resident to contact police regarding any disturbances.
Recent developments suggest some progress, as management has initiated eviction proceedings against the tenant accused of harboring the unauthorized visitor.
KPRC 2’s Corley Peel spoke with the tenant, who said she is looking for new places to live. However, the concerned woman reports continued problems.
“He was here around 7 a.m. in the morning a couple days ago,” the resident said. “I have a fear of what is next, or I cannot sleep well.”
Legal actions underway
While the apartment complex has now begun eviction proceedings, they have not provided a specific date for when the process will be completed. The Houston Police Department confirmed they are investigating the situation.
Management has recently offered the reporting resident an option to break her lease—a reversal from their earlier position.
