An FBI employee based in Houston was arrested Tuesday after investigators found multiple videos of child sexual abuse in his possession, according to Harris County officials.
Brian Vincent Rausch, an analyst with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was taken into custody by Precinct 3 deputies following a months-long investigation led by Constable Ryan Gable’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit.
Authorities also searched Rausch’s home in Cypress as part of the case.
Neighbors witnessed the operation. “They brought the wife out first and left her in the driveway with some of the agents, and then brought the two children out afterward,” Corey Guerrero said.
Guerrero was caught by surprise by the investigation.
“We could not imagine for the life of us what was going on,” Guerrero said. “We knew the husband worked for the FBI, and his car wasn’t there, so we couldn’t imagine what had happened. They’ve lived there for 11 years and just a nice family.”
Rausch faces a total of seven charges, with five from the state and two at the federal level. Three of the state charges are first-degree felonies, and two are second-degree felonies.
The case began earlier this year when an investigator uncovered evidence that Rausch had downloaded videos depicting the sexual abuse of children.
That discovery launched a joint effort involving several agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the FBI itself.
Rausch is currently being held in the Harris County Jail.
Constable Gable thanked local, state, and federal partners for their help in the investigation and said his office remains committed to protecting children from exploitation.
