Police investigate fatal shooting, wounding of teen in SW Houston

Authorities in Houston are investigating a shooting that left a man dead and a teenager injured over Memorial Day Weekend.

The shooting took place in southwest Houston, in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 5400 block of North Braeswood Boulevard on Saturday, May 24.

Officers with HPD responded to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital after a man was admitted with a gunshot wound. Officers learned that a private vehicle transported the victim to the hospital after the shooting.

Witnesses told investigators that the victim was meeting an individual at the complex for a transaction of some kind. The victim was inside a vehicle when he was approached by several men. During the exchange, one of the men retrieved a firearm and shot at the victim, striking him at least once.

The identity of the 18-year-old victim has not been released by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. A 17-year-old boy was also struck by the gunfire and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
