Authorities have released dramatic footage showing the car chase and arrest of two of New Orleans prison escapees in Walker County.
At around 6:30 p.m., deputies with Walker County Sheriff’s Office successfully took Leo Tate and Jermaine Donald into custody.

The situation started when Texas Department of Public Safety troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on I-45 near State Highway 19. The vehicle, a white Chevrolet Equinox, refused to stop, and a chase ensued.
Officials provided KPRC 2 with footage of the chase, showing the suspects pulling of a U-turn on the highway and eventually driving on the wrong side of the road on Highway 19.
The pursuit ended at the intersection of U.S. Highway 190 and Geneva Road, where both Tate and Donald were pulled from the vehicle and taken into custody.
Tate and Donald were taken to Walker County Jail. They both made brief appearances in court.
Tate was charged with aggravated escape and obstruction of justice out of Louisiana, while Donald w
as charged with aggravated escape and a parole violation out of Louisiana, along with evading arrest in Walker County.
Tate and Donald’s apprehensions are the latest in a string of arrests related to the New Orleans prison escape. Of the 10 escapees, eight have now been taken back into custody.
Derrick Groves and Antoine Massey remain at large.
Update: On May 26, 2025, three of the remaining fugitives were taken into custody.
