Rockets’ star Amen Thompson named to 2024-25 NBA All-Defensive First Team

It was no secret that Amen Thompson blossomed into one of the NBA’s most valuable young players in his second season with the Houston Rockets, and his work on the defensive side of the ball led to his inclusion among the league’s elite.

On Wednesday, the NBA announced that Thompson was named as a member of the 2024-25 Kia NBA All-Defensive First Team.

Thompson was joined by Dyson Daniles of the Atlanta Hawks, Luguentz Dort of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors and Evan Mobley of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In his second campaign after being selected fourth overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, Thompson finished second on the Rockets in both steals and rebounds per game and was third on the team in blocks per game.

His high-flying athleticism and seemingly endless defensive motor were on display all season, as he locked down some of the NBA’s most gifted scorers.
