The other teen was also armed. Some of the bullets hit a nearby house and several cars, but no one was injured by the exchange of bullets.

“It was quiet at first, then I heard one gunshot,” Zadie Selvage said. “It got quiet after that, and then about six, seven, eight gunshots went off again after that.”

As the chaos unfolded, Selvage described the scene, stating, “Then all you hear is all the police come in, they just looking for the person, looking for a person, looking for a person, and then you just see one car just swerve off, and that was it.”

Selvage commented on the frequency of violence in the area, saying, “That’s normal over here, yeah they patrol over here because that happens a lot with kids.” She added that she keeps her younger cousins away from the park.

“It’s always violence, always kids over there that they get upset playing at the park, and they get to fighting. If it’s not gunshots, it’s just too rough for them to be over there, and they’re too young,” she said.

Deputies are asking anyone who recognizes the teens or has information to contact Detective James Curtis at james.curtis@cn5.hctx.net or submit a tip online through the Precinct 5 crime tips website.

The investigation is ongoing.
