Investigators said one of the men, who was shot to death, was actually the woman’s ex-boyfriend.

Preliminary details as to what happened are that the ex-boyfriend and another man tried to break into the unidentified woman’s home on Saddle Rock Drive near W Gulf Bank Road and Ella Boulevard around 12:45 a.m. The woman called the police while her boyfriend, also unidentified, told her to hide in the closet while he went to investigate.

HPD Lt. JP Horelica said both men kicked down the front door, and that’s when the woman’s boyfriend shot at the two men before they tried taking off. One of them managed to get into a jeep and flee the area, while the other collapsed near the street and was later pronounced dead by the Houston Fire Department.

The other unidentified man, meanwhile, was spotted by police officers, and a brief chase ensued before he crashed into a bayou on Frick Road near Doss Park. Police were able to put him in cuffs and found a gun in the jeep as well.
