According to a press release announcing the event, civil rights lawyer Randall Kallinen said the press conference intends to address statistics that show Black drivers accounted for a disproportionate number of traffic stops compared to the population.

“We need to do much better to end this disparity,” Kallinen said.

He also said that bias among officers significantly influences police interactions, leading to disproportionate encounters, arrests, and use of force against Black, brown, and low-income communities.
