Man charged with driving intoxicated after causing fatal crash

Authorities in Houston have arrested a suspect charged with driving while intoxicated during a fatal crash over the weekend.

Abdul Jubay Davis, 42, is charged with intoxication manslaughter.

The crash happened at 4200 Bennington Street at around 6:50 p.m. on Saturday, May 17.

The identity of the deceased male, 38, is pending notification to family members by officials.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division detectives reported that a man driving a gray Ford F150 truck at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light and struck a red Chevrolet Impala. The driver of the Chevrolet Impala lost control, rolled over, and struck a black Honda Civic.

Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male driver of the Honda deceased at the scene. The male driver of the Impala was transported to an area hospital for his injuries. The passenger of the Ford truck was treated and released at the scene.

Davis was identified as the driver of the F150 that ran the red light, and he was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

He was determined to be intoxicated and was subsequently charged for his role in this crash.
