Houston’s Hobby Airport experienced a power loss and equipment outage on Sunday. It began just after 1 p.m.

According to the Houston Airport System and the FAA, the air traffic control tower at Hobby Airport lost power around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday. Backup generators kicked in, but the outage still caused brief delays for incoming flights.

An FAA advisory confirmed that planes headed to Hobby could face arrival delays or even airborne holding of up to 30 minutes as a result.

The FAA says power was fully restored by 2:15 p.m., and inbound flights that were held during the outage resumed normal operations.

The cause of the outage is still unknown, but the FAA says it will investigate.

If you’re planning to fly in or out of Hobby Airport today, it’s a good idea to check with your airline for the latest updates.
