A Houston man who was already facing a capital murder charge for shooting and killing his 15-year-old sister is facing more felony charges after being released on bond.
Jaylen George, now 24, was first arrested in June 2021 for his sister’s death. According to police, it happened around 12:40 a.m. at an apartment complex on South Green Drive. Officers arrived to find the teenage girl lying outside with a gunshot wound. She died at the scene.

Witnesses told officers George was the one who pulled the trigger. One family member said he admitted it before leaving the scene.
Investigators later learned George had tracked down his sister, who had a history of running away, and showed up at the apartment complex with a gun.
Witnesses say he was trying to get her to come home when the tragic incident unfolded.
George was arrested later that day. He also had three open felony warrants at the time.
Despite being charged with capital murder, George was granted bond. Originally set at $500,000, his bond was lowered seven different times, eventually landing at just $35,000, a move that has stirred major controversy.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott pointed to the case while slamming what he called “activist judges,” posting on X:
“Jaylen George shot & KILLED his 15-year-old sister while out on a felony PR bond. His bond for capital murder was reduced SEVEN TIMES. From $500,000 to just $35,000. He was allowed to walk free. Then he committed ANOTHER ROBBERY! Activist judges endanger innocent Texans.”

At the time of his sister’s death, George had already been out on a personal recognizance bond for felony theft.
And it didn’t stop there.
Since being released, George has racked up four new felony charges, all are scheduled to go before a judge on Wednesday.
Here’s what we know:
- January 2025: George allegedly slammed someone’s hand into a metal partition during a robbery, hurting them.
- Just days earlier: He was accused of cutting off his court-ordered ankle monitor, a condition of his release.
- November 2024: George was charged in two separate cases, one for a violent robbery and another for stealing cash from someone.
- February 2024: He also picked up a misdemeanor indecent exposure charge after being accused of exposing himself and masturbating in public.
As of now, George is back in custody and is expected to appear in court later this week.
