Speed, alcohol cause deadly crash in Northeast Harris County, deputies say

HOUSTON – Investigators believed alcohol and speed were factors in a deadly crash in Northeast Harris County.

Deputies said the driver of a pickup truck rear-ended an 18-wheeler on the frontage road of Beltway 8 and West Lake Houston at about 12:40 a.m. Saturday.

Paramedics treated the driver on the scene, and he was flown to the hospital via LifeFlight.

He died at a hospital.

No one else was in the pickup truck.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not hurt.

“We do know for a fact that speed and alcohol does play a factor in this situation,” said HCSO Deputy Crash Investigator Chagoya.
