As Jeep Weekend unfolds on the Bolivar Peninsula, authorities are already making arrests; 161 people are behind bars as of Saturday, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.

That includes 165 misdemeanor charges, 23 felony charges, and the recovery of 30 guns.
More than 520 officers from 16 agencies are on scene, backed by 30 EMS units, Life Flight support, and vehicle checkpoints.
Traffic is being closely managed. Visitors must come in through Honeysuckle Drive and leave via Stingaree Drive.
Officials say they’ll continue to monitor the crowds and release updates as needed to keep the event safe.
