Galveston police are searching for a man who began shooting outside a local bar early Friday morning, leaving a 24-year-old woman shot.
It all started around 1 a.m. on 25th Street near Broadway Avenue J and Highway 87, where officers were called about a shooting outside a restaurant and bar. Before they even got there, dispatchers told them the victim had already been taken to John Sealy Hospital by her friends.

According to police, there had been a fight between two groups of men inside the bar. Security ended up clearing everyone out, but things didn’t cool down once people got outside.
That’s when witnesses say an unidentified man pulled out a gun and started firing shots in the parking lot.
At the same time, authorities say a young woman and her friends were pulling into a spot when one of the bullets hit her in the back through the rear of their car. She told her friends she’d been shot, and they rushed her straight to the hospital.
Police say she remains in serious condition.
The shooter, meanwhile, took off on foot, running south on 25th Street and then east on Winnie, according to witnesses. Investigators are still working to identify him and, at last check, were interviewing people at the scene.
