CYPRESS, Texas – A driver is lucky to be alive after investigators said she lost control of her SUV and landed in a Cypress retention pond Thursday night.

It happened around 10:15 p.m. when investigators from Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office and the Cy-Fair Fire Department got a call about a vehicle in the pond on Longenbaugh Road and Gran Villa Drive.

When they arrived, they found the SUV partially submerged and were able to rescue the unidentified driver and retrieve the SUV from the pond.

It’s unclear exactly how everything unfolded, but deputy constables said she lost control of her vehicle, causing it to veer off the roadway before diving into the retention pond.

She did not suffer any injuries, and investigators said she declined to be taken to the hospital or show signs of impairment, so she was not arrested.
