It happened earlier Wednesday in the 12600 block of Blackstone River Drive in Atascocita. Harris County Pct. 4 Constables were called by a resident who said a young child had walked into his home.
Humble ISD confirmed the special needs child had wandered away from nearby Eagle Springs Elementary School during recess.
“School staff took action to locate the student, and the resident took the correct action by calling 911. School staff located the student with the resident, and then police arrived at the home. Police determined that the child was unharmed. The student was returned to campus by staff with the help of Humble ISD Police,” the district said.
The child’s parent was contacted when it was determined the child was not on the playground.
“This incident should not have occurred. We are reviewing how this happened and determining what additional safeguards should be put in place to prevent this from ever reoccurring,” the district said.
