HOUSTON – KPRC 2 and American Furniture Warehouse are surprising 20 deserving high school seniors with $2,500 scholarships in 2025. All students selected for scholarships have been nominated by their high schools.
Amber Jones, a senior at Jack Yates High School, is our seventeenth KPRC 2-American Furniture Warehouse Senior Scholarship winner of the school year. Jack Yates High School is part of the Houston Independent School District.
Jones is academically ranked second out of 189 students in her senior class. She is active in National Honor Society, her school’s theatre production club and the morning announcements team. She is also a member of the Jack Yates varsity cheer squad.
Jones stands out for serving her community through her volunteer hours with the Houston Food Bank and The Women’s Hospital of Texas. She is a youth leader and choir member at her church. Jones has also served as a caregiver for a close family member.
The aspiring pediatrician will study Biology at Texas Southern University this fall with plans to further her studies at Baylor College of Medicine.
