The Astros showed out for moms across the Houston area Sunday, blowing out the Cincinnati Reds 6-0 to clinch their weekend series.
Pitcher Ronel Blanco started his eighth game of the season for Houston.

After throwing three perfect innings to start the outing, Blanco surrendered a walk to start the fourth inning and a pair of hits over the next several frames. Even so, he finished with 11 strikeouts—a career-high—across 8.0 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and one walk.
The Astros’ offense got going in the bottom of the third, when Yainer Diaz sent a bomb into the Crawford Boxes for a three-run homer. In the very next inning, Cam Smith scored on a sacrifice fly from Christian Walker to make the score 4-0.
In the bottom of the sixth, Houston cushioned its lead when a single from Walker brought home Smith and Jeremy Pena.
After Blanco’s masterful outing, Shawn Dubin came in to close out the final frame.
The win moves the Astros to 20-19 on the season. Tomorrow, they’ll host the Kansas City Royals for the first match of a three-game series.
Framber Valdez is expected to take the bump for Houston, and first pitch is slated for 7:10 p.m.
