The bill creates a universal school choice program in Texas, allowing families to use public taxpayer dollars for private school tuition and other education-related expenses such as textbooks, transportation, and therapy.

The event included Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dustin Burrows, Chairman Brandon Creighton, Chairman Brad Buckley, Kingdom Life Academy Director Joel Enge, school choice advocate Shinara Morrison, and families from across the state.

Senate Bill 2, authored by Creighton and sponsored by Buckley, is considered the largest day-one school choice launch in the country. Supporters say the legislation is intended to give Texas families greater flexibility in choosing the best education path for their children.
