Prom season is lighting up across Houston, and this year, Uber is sliding into the group chat with a deal that’ll save teens money—and maybe save parents from sending “Where r u ???” texts every 10 minutes.
Starting April 29, teens ages 13–17 who set up a new Uber teen account can get two free rides (up to $20 each) to and from prom-related events. That means less carpool drama and more time perfecting that corsage pin.

And because prom food usually = small plates, Uber’s also offering $20 off an Uber Eats order for some well-earned post-dance carbs.
How it works
- Who? Teens 13–17 with a new Uber teen account.
- When? Now through May 31, 2025, or until all the promos are claimed.
- What’s included? Two free Uber rides (up to $20 each) + $20 off Uber Eats.
- Where? Available in participating areas—except California. (sorry, West Coast).
Teens can also reserve their rides up to 90 days in advance (so yes, they can actually plan ahead) and request an UberXL to have room for dresses, tuxes, glitter, and all the fun.
Parents, you’re still invited even if you’re not in the group chat
With an Uber teen account, parents can:
- Track rides in real time.
- Get notifications for pickup and dropoff.
- Verify the right driver with PIN verification.
- Use RideCheck for ride monitoring.
“Prom is such a meaningful milestone for teens, and we want to help make it even more joyful and stress-free—for them and their parents,” said Georgie Jeffreys, Head of Marketing at Uber, North America.
