HOUSTON – KPRC 2 and American Furniture Warehouse are surprising 20 deserving high school seniors with $2,500 scholarships in 2025. All students selected for scholarships have been nominated by their high schools.
Clear Springs High School senior Kellen Nalepa is the fifth recipient of the KPRC 2-American Furniture Warehouse Senior Scholarship from the Class of 2025. Clear Springs High School is part of the Clear Creek Independent School District.
Ranked tenth out of 635 students in his senior class, Nalepa is part of the National Honor Society as well as Mu Alpha Theta (National Math Honor Society), the National Science Honor Society, Rho Kappa (National Social Studies Honor Society) and the National English Honor Society.
He was starting c enter on the Clear Springs varsity football team and was named 2nd Team All-District. The Texas High School Coaches Association recognized Nalepa as part of their ELITE Academic All-State.
In his nomination essay, Nalepa revealed, “When I was 10, my little sister was killed by a drunk driver, and my biggest passion has become raising awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving.” The Nalepa family hosts an annual 5K fundraising event in Kelsey Nalepa’s memory. The program provides scholarships for young women to attend college. Last year, the family also founded the nonprofit Kelsey’s Krusaders.
Nalepa plans to attend The University of Oklahoma’s Honors College to study Engineering.
