Choose your own virtual adventure in the history of Freedmen’s Town: Explore Marty Bennett’s artwork

HOUSTON,TX – As you walk into Martellus (Marty) Bennett’s, an NFL Super Bowl winner from Houston, exhibit, it is the epitome of youthfulness and makes you feel like a little child again.

Imagine it’s Saturday morning. You wake up, and the house is quiet—your parents are still snoozing. You peek into the pantry and see those colorful cereal boxes calling your name.

Feeling a little adventurous, you decide to grab a bowl and pour yourself some cereal. Maybe you even sneak a bite straight from the box when no one’s looking! It’s just you and your breakfast, ready to kick off an awesome day.

This house did a really great job of displaying a childhood experience within the space.

Fun fact: The mayor of Freedmen’s Town, Sharonda Johnson, actually grew up in this very house! It still features the original wood pieces that hold countless memories. Imagine the stories those walls could tell about her childhood adventures and how they’ve shaped her journey to leadership today!
