Houston police officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to a call around 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 14, after the woman told apartment staff someone in the unit needed assistance. When authorities arrived, they found a 66-year-old man deceased inside the apartment with apparent blunt force trauma injuries.

The man’s identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

During the initial investigation, neighbors reported hearing an argument from the man’s unit the night before.

The victim lived in the Rasmus-Temenos apartments, an affordable housing complex designed to support individuals transitioning out of homelessness. Management at the property stated that all visitors must be registered and escorted, and they are cooperating with the investigation.

Crime scene investigators removed large bags of evidence from the scene, though police noted the apartment did not appear to show obvious signs of a struggle.

Police are urging anyone with information about the woman’s identity or her whereabouts to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or provide an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
