Hours after the deadly shooting, several gunshots were heard in the same area where the deputy was killed. Authorities confirmed a K-9 located the suspect inside a dumpster in the same area. The suspect then shot and wounded the K-9 and was killed when authorities returned fire.
According to the Harris County Clerk’s Office, Davis had two charges of aggravated sexual assault from December 16. He has a criminal history dating back to 1986 in Harris County. Records also show Davis had a theft case in Galveston County from February 2024. He also has cases in Fort Bend County in the 1990s for theft, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and escape.
Authorities say the warrant that was being served on Davis was an aggravated assault warrant out of Brazoria County.
According to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Davis served time in prison for aggravated robbery from 1995 until he was released on parole in 2015. He was picked up by law enforcement on the charge in 1994 before being sentenced to prison in 1995.
Before that, Davis had served time in prison for the escape charge in Fort Bend County in 1992. He was released on parole a few months later.
