On Dec. 13, court documents allege that Anderson locked the girl in a dog cage placed next to a Christmas tree for hours on end. The girl’s arms were zip-tied, and her mouth was duct-taped shut. The documents also allege that Anderson kicked the cage while the child was locked in it.

The child did not have access to food or water during the alleged confinement, and the documents say she urinated on herself after being restrained for hours without access to a restroom.

The motive for the abuse was reportedly discipline for the girl misbehaving in school.

The court documents did not confirm whether Anderson is related to the child, but they identified her as the girl’s sole caretaker.

Anderson was handed a bond of $40,000.
