What happened?
A shooting at an AutoZone in Montgomery County left 19-year-old Perez dead, sending shockwaves through the community.
Authorities arrested 19-year-old William Gabriel Aguilar, who is now facing first-degree murder charges for allegedly shooting Perez multiple times inside the store.
The shooting happened Saturday around 9:50 a.m. at the AutoZone located in the 28800 block of Birnham Woods Drive.
Authorities say Aguilar entered the store and shot Perez, an employee, before fleeing the scene on foot.
Law enforcement officials apprehended Aguilar a short distance away. He was taken into custody and is being held on a $750,000 bond at the Montgomery County Jail.
At the time of the incident, no customers were inside the store, though one individual was in the parking lot.
Authorities confirmed that a daycare center behind the AutoZone was closed, while the nearby World Champion Center was filled with children practicing gymnastics.
Aguilar’s motive remains unclear, and investigators are working to determine what led to the shooting.
