Man hit and killed by vehicle after trying to cross the Eastex Freeway in NE Houston

Houston – A man, believed to be around 64-years-old, was killed after being hit by a vehicle while attempting to cross the Eastex Freeway early Sunday.

It happened in the 11800 block of the Eastex Freeway around 1 a.m.

Houston Police said that a 37-year-old man told investigators that he was driving on the freeway when he saw the man crossing the roadway.

The driver was unable to stop in time and hit the man. He died at the scene.

The driver immediately stopped and has been cooperating with police.

Police say the man who was hit had a hospital band on his arm. It is unclear why he was trying to cross the freeway or where he was going.
