What happened?
On September 3, Husseini was fatally shot while on his way to work.
Investigators said the incident happened at 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of Richmond Avenue and Fondren Road, where Husseini had stopped at a red light in his personal vehicle.
According to authorities, the gunman, identified as Murady, exited his vehicle, approached Husseini’s SUV, and opened fire. After briefly fleeing, Murady reportedly returned to the scene to fire additional shots at the fallen deputy before leaving again.
Hours later, Murady was tracked to Galveston, where he attempted to evade capture by driving into the water near the Causeway Bridge. He was ultimately arrested after officers, with the help of a K9 unit, apprehended him in the water.
Husseini, who had served with Precinct 4 since 2021, was remembered as a dedicated law enforcement officer.
