Julie’s journey to find her father has been one of persistence, hope, and resilience. Growing up without knowing the man who gave her life, she often felt a void that she was determined to fill. Growing up, Julie was adopted and she felt her mother would be more difficult to find because she was in Korea so she started to try to find her biological father.
Allen Peterson, Julie’s friend, helped her along the process and helped her find her father. Allen combed through public records, sought help from genealogy services, and followed every lead he could find. Allen and Julie did come across challenges but finally, their dedication paid off when she was able to confirm her father’s identity through DNA testing.
“The miracle was it took three weeks to find [my Father],” Julie shared. “It was just a moment that I can’t even describe. It was just the feelings of my whole entire life wondering who my father was because I was adopted when I was six. I was given up for adoption when I was three…so my whole life, I really, truly never thought I would find my dad.”
The reunion is not just with her father but with a whole new family. This Thanksgiving, Julie will sit at the table with her first cousin and aunt she never knew she had. This meeting was an emotional one, filled with stories, laughter, and the forging of bonds that were decades in the making.
For her father, Robert Lee Klein, the discovery of Julie came as a surprise but also a blessing. “Felt a little guilty that I hadn’t tried to look her up. But I was so happy that she had gone,” he said. “[When we met] it was just…as if we had known each other our whole lives”.
Julie hopes her story will inspire others who may be searching for lost family members to hold onto hope and persevere. She acknowledges the challenges of her journey but says the outcome has made every struggle worthwhile.
As she prepared for the big day, Julie was filled with a mix of excitement and nervousness. “I am just still in awe. I am in awe…I wish we could have found each other sooner, you know, But for whatever reason, this was the timing. But I am so grateful because he’s just such a good man, so caring and so kind.
Julie’s reunion serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring strength of family ties, even when separated by time and distance. This Thanksgiving, for Julie Caron, is a celebration of love, hope, and the start of a beautiful new chapter.
