Tourists are having a rude awakening while trying to access and visit some of the most famous Parisian landmarks ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Several tourists have run into security barriers, police checkpoints, blocked streets and closed restaurants due to strict Olympic security measures.

Many popular landmarks restricted access for Parisians and tourists unless they had a pre-approved QR code that justified the need for walking within the perimeter.

The KPRC 2 Paris crew found one of the best ways to avoid all the traffic and blockages is by taking the metro.

No signs were at any of the security checkpoints explaining the closures or security pass program. Instead, Paris police officers individually spoke to thousands of confused pedestrians who were simply trying to reach their destinations on the other side of the river.

Those who didn’t have the security passes were directed to inconvenient detour crossings.

The famous Notre Dame Cathedral is completely fenced off, and the entirety of the Louvre is fenced in and requires a reservation to gain access to a view of its signature glass pyramid.

Paris is set to host the best of the world’s athletes from July 26 to Aug. 11.
