‘Excellent work:’ Alligator that walked across Montgomery County bridge captured and released by law enforcement

ROMAN FOREST, Texas – Why did the alligator cross the bridge?

That must have been a question officers in Roman Forest were asking when they were called to investigate this five to six foot reptile that made its way across the Via Principale bridge.

The Roman Forest Police Department said it happened Saturday night when two officers were flagged down by a resident saying the alligator had walked across the bridge and was in a flower bed.

The two officers along with other law enforcement from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office worked together to capture the creature.

Once captured, the police department said it was released into a non-residential area of the nearby East Fork of the San Jacinto River.

“Thank you Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Pct 4 Montgomery County Constable’s Office for the much needed assistance. Excellent work to all involved,” the department said on Facebook.
