Apple reports issues with multiple applications including iMessage, FaceTime

If you were using an Apple product around 5 p.m. Thursday, there’s a good chance you may have noticed a delay sending or receiving iMessages. If so, you’re not alone, as many Apple users experienced delays and outages with the iMessage application around that time.

According to tech monitoring website DownDetector, over 13,000 Apple users reported issues with iMessage around 5:10 p.m. In the 30 minutes since that report, the number has dropped to around 10,000 users still reporting delays.

Of the delays reported, 76% of users reported problems sending messages, while 20% reported issues receiving them. The other 4% of complaints centered around devices being slow in general.

Apple Support hasn’t posted any information surrounding the issues on social media. However, the company’s System Status chart on its website reported issues with iMessage, FaceTime, HomeKit and Apple Messages for Business.

Minutes after the reports were listed, the statuses were changed from “Issue” to “Resolved Issue,” which could mean that the problems have been completely fixed, although Apple hasn’t reported anything to confirm that yet.
