HOUSTON – KPRC 2 and American Furniture Warehouse are surprising 20 deserving high school seniors with $2,500 scholarships in 2024. All students selected for scholarships have been nominated by their high schools.
The fifteenth scholarship winner from the Class of 2024 is Langham Creek High School senior Natalia Nguyen. Langham Creek is part of the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District.
Nguyen is a leader, serving as captain of her school’s Cross Country team. She is also president of the Technology Student Association.
Serving her community is important to Nguyen. She has logged dozens of hours volunteering through Key Club and the National Honor Society. The MESA Outreach Food Pantry at Bear Creek is an organization Nguyen notes a fondness for donating her time to.
Nguyen plans to attend Texas A&M University to pursue a degree in Aerospace Engineering and Environmental Science. Nguyen told KPRC 2′s Brittany Begley, “I’ve been able to find my love of rocketry and aerospace and connect that to my desire to help improve the future for this earth.” Nguyen mentioned a goal of working toward creating a jet fuel that is more environmentally friendly than current standards.
