‘My son is gone’: Family identifies 23-year-old victim after 2 people were shot and killed in SW Houston Saturday

HOUSTON – A Houston family is heartbroken after their loved one was shot and killed Saturday afternoon.

“He worked so hard to get where he is today, and now my son is gone,” Cindy Forbes said.

Family members identified Brandon Forbes as one of the victims who was killed in two separate shootings that took place just streets apart in southwest Houston.

One of the shootings took place in the 14100 block of Fleetwell Drive near Cloverbrook, and the other occurred in the 14110 block of Buffalo Speedway. Both happened around 4:50 p.m.

One victim who was shot on Buffalo Speedway was later pronounced deceased, police say.

At the Fleetwell shooting, two people were said to have been shot. One was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was transported to the hospital.

Just before 5 p.m., officers were called to Buffalo Speedway and found a man who was dead. Officers soon learned that another victim died about a block or so away on Fleetwell Drive.

Assistant Chief Yasar Bashari says all three victims were standing outside a home on Fleetwood when one or more suspects began shooting at them.

“Nothing unusual…these victims were just home on a Saturday afternoon. They were just outside. Nothing appeared to be out of the normal,” Bashari said.

Family members told KPRC that Brandon had just turned 23 last month and never bother anyone.

They say Brandon loved to work on cars, motorcycles, and bikes. He enjoyed working at IKEA and being with his family.

Now, the family is praying for answers and justice.

“My son Brandon came far. He was a hardworking man and a loving son,,” his mother said. “All he liked to do was ride his 4-wheeler and enjoy life.”

“Just an innocent person, my baby brother. It’s just sad. All he did was love to work and enjoy cars, 4-wheelers that’s it. That’s all. Just a tragic incident and we don’t know why,” his sister, Bianca Forbes-Robertson said.

“If anybody knows anything or saw anything, please come forward or speak up. If Brandon is your friend and you cared about Brandon, come forward,” Stephanie Williams said.

The Forbes family says this is the third death in the family in less than two weeks.

As for the investigation, police say they are looking for suspects and they will increase patrol in this area.
