HOUSTON – A woman and a man are dead after a shooting in northeast Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment located at 280 Uvalde near Woodforest and Wallisville.
Investigators said a 22-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman were sitting inside a vehicle when they were shot. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
HCSO Sgt. Sidney Miller said some sort of transaction took place before the shooting based on the preliminary investigation, but that detectives were still interviewing witnesses and canvassing the area. They’re planning to reach out to family members of the victims for clues about what the transaction may have involved.
According to investigators, it’s not yet clear how the victims knew each other.
“Honestly, I was hoping that we could at least get through Thanksgiving... this is an unfortunate situation,” Miller said.
Deputies said witnesses saw three hooded men flee on foot. A dark sedan was also seen leaving the scene after the shooting, HCSO said.
