Houston – Houston ISD says 95% of the district’s teacher positions are filled for the start of school on Aug. 22.
Jeremy Grant-Skinner, Chief Talent Officer for HISD, addressed staffing shortages during a live panel discussion Wednesday afternoon on our digital streaming network KPRC 2+, moderated by KPRC 2 reporter Zach Lashway.
Campus safety is another concern for parents getting ready to send their kids back to school. During the panel discussion, HISD Chief of Police Pedro Lopez Jr. talked about whether he thinks his department is ready if an active shooter attacks children or staff. Just last week, HISD trustees voted to add more than $2 million in extra equipment for HISD police.
