Some Houston-area schools districts have canceled classes due to the threat of severe weather posed by Hurricane Nicholas. Listed alphabetically, these are the school districts and schools that have canceled classes:
Angleton ISD

Angleton ISD schools will be closed Wednesday, September 15. “The majority of schools are still without electricity, and we need to clean up debris at our campuses. We also understand many of our families need time to clean up after the storm,” the district said.
Brazosport College
Due to the impacts and widespread power issues from Hurricane Nicholas, Brazosport College classes and operations will remain closed, Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021, including dual credit courses, online, face-to-face, hybrid format, as well as the Bill & Julia May Children’s Center. Faculty, staff, and students should not come to campus on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021.
Brazosport ISD
Campuses and offices will remain closed through Wednesday.
Danbury ISD
Danbury ISD Schools will remain closed on Wednesday, Sept. 15, due to a large number of power outages in the area as a result of severe weather.
Dickinson ISD
“Dickinson ISD schools will remain closed on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. Some of our facilities are still without power, and many of our employees and families are without power at their homes.”
All but 7 FBISD Schools will resume classes on Wednesday, Sept. 14
Classes will resume normally at Fort Bend ISD elementary, middle and high schools tomorrow, Wednesday, September 15, 2021, except for seven schools that were impacted by power outages due to Hurricane Nicholas:

Galveston ISD
“Due to power outages, Galveston ISD will be closed Wednesday, September 15. All afterschool activities and events are cancelled. We will communicate with families tomorrow about plans for Thursday.”
Palacios ISD
The district said it will remain closed Wednesday, September 15th.
Santa Fe ISD
“Santa Fe ISD will be closed Wednesday, September 15, but will reopen on Thursday, September 16. Many of our Santa Fe ISD families and staff have been adversely impacted due to the loss of power from Hurricane Nicholas, and a significant number of Santa Fe ISD staff will be unable to return tomorrow. However, we look forward to all our students and staff returning on Thursday, September 16.”
Stafford MSD
“After assessing the damage from Hurricane Nicholas, we are thankful that the City of Stafford and all Stafford MSD facilities are in the clear and fully operational. At this time, our main concern is for our students and staff still experiencing extensive power outages. In order to put safety first, SMSD has decided to cancel all classes on Wednesday, September 15.
“Some student activities may continue as planned on Wednesday, September 15, and any changes will come directly from Coaches and/or Directors.”
Sweeny ISD
In order to give our families and staff time to recover and clean up from Hurricane Nicholas, Sweeny ISD will cancel school and all extracurricular activities for Wednesday, Sept. 15. Sweeny ISD Board of Trustee meeting which was scheduled for Tuesday will also be cancelled.
Our hope is that we will be able to return to a normal school schedule on Thursday, Sept. 16.
Texas City ISD
“Due to an abundance of staff with personal issues from the storm, Texas City ISD will close Sept. 15 but will reopen Thursday.”
