HOUSTON – An investigation is underway after a man was killed and two others were injured in a shooting in downtown Houston Saturday night, according to the Houston Police Department.

The shooting was reported around 2:45 p.m. in the 2000 block of Fannin Street.

Upon arrival, police said two men were found injured and the third was found lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. Officials pronounced the third man dead at the scene.

HPD said one man in a car and another on a bicycle got into some sort of fight and pulled out guns. The two injured people were taken to a local hospital in unknown condition, police said.

Investigators believe the victims were caught in the crossfire and said they appeared to be part of Houston’s homeless population.

“It’s just sad that people don’t take other people’s life into consideration,” said Police Chief Troy Finner.

The suspects fled the scene in a silver SUV, possibly a Honda or Toyota, police say.

If you have any information regarding this shooting, you are asked to call the Houston Police Department at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
