1. Search underway for U.S. Air Force member who went missing near Surfside Beach, Coast Guard says

The Coast Guard continues the search for a U.S. Air Force member who disappeared near Surfside Beach Sunday.

Crews have been out for hours trying to find Elijah Posana, 22.

Coast Guard members said Posana was swimming approximately 100 feet from shore when an individual reported seeing him being pulled by a rip current.

2. Amber Alert issued for missing 4-year-old boy last seen with man from Austin area

The Austin Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a missing 4-year-old boy last seen with a man Sunday.

Police said Wyatt Crowley was last seen in Burton, Texas, wearing a Spiderman sweatshirt. Officers are also looking for Joshua Crowley, 36, in connection with the boy’s abduction. Investigators said Crowley was also last seen in Burton, wearing a red bandana on his neck and a black baggy T-shirt.

The suspect is driving a black 2011 Mazda MZ3 with a Texas license plate number 737763C.

Anyone with information regarding this abduction is urged to call the Austin Police Department.

3. Boil water notice issued Friday for part of east Houston still in effect as crews work on repairs

A boil water notice that was issued Friday for part of east Houston remains in effect as crews work to repair the ruptured main.

Residents and businesses in east Houston have been left with low water pressure or no water at all since Friday due to a water main break.

Carolyn Meyer, a resident in the affected area, said she’s been in constant communication with the city.

“It’s hard,” she said. “You don’t know how much you use your water. We are very fortunate because it’s just me and my husband but I can only imagine for the people that have small children or elderly people.”

On Sunday night, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said city crews and an outside contractor are working to repair the line.

4. Carnival Cruises returning to Galveston, welcome ships back home

Carnival Cruises returned to Galveston after a long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

People and businesses are so happy to have the Carnival Breeze and Carnival Vista ships back at the Port of Galveston. Before the pandemic, Galveston’s cruise business generated $1.6 billion dollars annually and it is the fourth most popular cruise homeport in North America.

“That’s what Galveston is about right there. So we are normal. It’s back,” Adina Schlekewn said.

On Sunday, people welcomed Carnival Breeze and Carnival Vista ships back on the docks at the Port of Galveston.

“We came out to show our support for the cruise industry. We are ready to go,” David Tanner said.

5. Texas’ newest underwater attraction with tunnel, 3,000 creatures opening in May

A new underwater ocean tunnel will open in San Antonio just in time for the summer.

SEA LIFE San Antonio announced that its opening date is set for May 25 at the Shops at Rivercenter, KSAT-TV reports.

SEA LIFE aquarium officials said guests will get to experience sea life in 10 interactive zones. The aquarium will include the city’s first underwater ocean tunnel, a stingray bay, and a sea horse mangrove exhibit, officials told KSAT.

“We look forward to welcoming over 3,000 creatures to the aquarium in the coming weeks, from an 8-foot zebra shark to our beautiful seahorses,” Nick Ireland, the curator for SEA LIFE San Antonio, said in a news release. “Guests will have the opportunity to come face to fin with these incredible sea creatures and immerse themselves in an underwater adventure where rays and sharks swim overhead in over 160,000 gallons of water. The attraction will also feature educational talks and feeding demonstrations throughout the day.”
