Most of the heavy activity appears to be along the Gulf Freeway at 610 South Loop, where an accident is already causing delays.

Most of the morning’s coastal showers and a couple of thunderstorms were expected to linger, but should clear out by tonight.

As the front slowly moves out this afternoon, high pressure and north winds will settle in over Houston, making for a much less humid, more comfortable stretch.

By around 11 a.m., we’ll start to see a line of broken storms as the front pulls away from the I-20 corridor and enters the northern counties and the Brazos Valley around lunchtime.

Between 2 and 6 p.m. is where the forecast may get a little tricky. The leading edge of the front is expected to hit the Houston metro around 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. This could also be the time when the sea breeze storms that will be pulled in ahead of the front arrive simultaneously.

By around 4 p.m., the storms are forecast to move into the Houston area along I-10, impacting places like Katy, downtown Houston, and Beaumont.

The most intense storms are expected to push toward the Gulf Coast by about 6 p.m., creating an afternoon and early evening weather event. After 9 p.m., most of the thunderstorms are forecast to clear out, with lingering showers possible overnight and into early Thursday morning.
