Thursday night football returns with muggy, warm temperatures across SE Texas

Warm and muggy, but likely dry!

Thursday Night Football

September is just around the corner, the kiddos are in class, and football is back! This is a significant concern for parents, athletes, marching bands, and cheerleaders alike.

Tonight, there are several important matchups. At Crump Stadium, Conroe is playing Alief Elsik. Mayde Creek is playing Fort Bend Travis at Hall Stadium. At Mercer Stadium, Crawford is playing Fort Bend Clements. At 7 p.m., there are also two big games: Pearland vs Fulshear and Cinco Ranch vs The Woodlands.

Of course, it is still late August, so you can expect it to be warm and muggy. At 7 p.m., temperatures will be in the mid-to-upper 80s, but it will still feel close to 100° with the humidity. Sunset tonight is at 7:48 p.m., but we will struggle to cool down. At 9 p.m., it’ll be more comfortable without the sunshine, but the heat will still be present. I’d definitely wear something cool and loose-fitting (maybe something that doesn’t show sweat if you’re like me).

Let’s talk about storm chances. Rain is most likely across SE Texas during the heat of the day, from now through 6 p.m. At 4 p.m., we are expecting to see pop-up thunderstorms. These storms could soak up any pre-game practices or tailgates.

4PM Thursday

We are not expecting any severe weather; however, any storm that does form can produce frequent lightning strikes and heavy downpours. Localized street flooding will be possible.

As we head into the evening, storm coverage will be decreasing. An isolated storm or two is possible by 6 p.m., but most of the area will be dry.

6PM Thursday

By 8 p.m., we are expecting all of SE Texas to be dry. There’s a 5% chance of a lingering, dissipating storm, but that is incredibly unlikely. We will be left with a warm, muggy, and buggy night.

8PM Thursday

If you’re headed out to any football games to cheer on your athlete, marching bands, or cheerleader, we’d love to see your photos! Send them in to Click2Pins to be featured on air and online.
